Martial Arts Temple Kung Fu

To use a wholistic approach to educate, train & support the local community. This is achieved by bringing people together in a safe and welcoming environment, promoting sporting excellence and spirit, cultivating personal development through the martial arts temple system.

Martial Arts Temple System (MATS), dated some thirty years was formed in early 1978 by Chet Alexander and Joe Wray, the latter currently spearheading all its operations.

During MATS early years working with young people and their families, it became clear to us that we were more than just a fighting/sports club. The combination of the martial arts philosophy and the social conscience of the leading members gave MATS a broader social outlook. This social outlook has developed into the Imani Community Association, which became a registered charity in 1991 and has a clear social role.
