About the Business
Chris has over 20 years of experience in many different Martial Arts.

Starting with his journey in Freestyle Wrestling with Coach Roy Wood at the Snake Pit in Wigan where he eventually became British Freestyle Wrestling Champion.

Wing Chun was next with Anand Lanka at Preston Wing Chun for 6 years until moving to the south of England in 2007.

Upon moving down south Chris sought out a Muay Thai Kickboxing club and found Impact Martial Arts (based in Tidworth and Marlborough) under the instruction of Wayne Timlin (5th dan). Due do work commitments Chris would have to change clubs and trained With Gary Davis, eventually earning his Black Belt in Kickboxing November 2016.

While learning Kickboxing Chris also began practising Goju Ryu Karate at Simon Buddens Winchester Karate Academy (now Combat Martial Arts) in 2014. Once again due to work commitments, Chris had to put his Karate journey on hold upon receiving his Brown belt. However, at the beginning of 2018, Chris was able to resume his training with Simon (7th Dan) and has achieved Second Dan (Nidan) Black Belt October 2018.

In 2013 Chris started Jiu Jitsu and holds the rank of blue belt graded by Alex De Souza in 2015 at De Souza Dojo in Bournemouth. Chris also holds the rank of a Yellow belt in Judo and aims to focus on working his way up in that next.

Chris:

"My mission is to make sure you get the best training possible. Whether that be group, one to one, or both. With experience in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wing Chun, Wrestling, Karate, Judo, Freestyle Wrestling and BJJ I incorporate all of this into the syllabus.

I still train so I continue to perfect and learn technique and make sure my instruction is above par to set you up with the best atmosphere to learn.

My goal is to help you reach yours and enjoy the Martial Arts as they should be. The whole collective rather than segmented parts.

Best Regards,
Chris Petherwick"

Private Tuition

Private Tuition

Private tuition will have a positive influence on your training and will accelerate progression. It will expand your knowledge, not just in technique but through the Martial Arts in general. You may work in areas you feel are weak or in areas you wish to improve on. You will have undivided attention for the whole class and you may also want to practise techniques which are only occasionally practised in class.
Group Sessions

Group Sessions

Group sessions take place at the Phoenix Centre in Andover at 8:30pm Thursdays and 6pm every Sunday. The lessons are fully planned and you will never feel lost in the shuffle. Group sessions are for 16+ adults. You will eventually need boxing gloves, a gum shield, groin protector and shin guards but sparring is held after the main session so feel free to come and try it out before you buy all the kit. The classes are not fitness based they are Martial Arts based, however, excellent fitness is a side effect of Martial Arts so you will certainly achieve fitness goals while chasing Martial Arts mastery.
